#1 homemade Hobbes bumper sticker. (as a tiger, and a mature individual, Hobbes would not piss on your preference for inferior pickup trucks) That’s what it’s sayin’ just sayin’.
#2 I scraped some paint off my rims to reveal this lovely machined gear shape, I think it looks pretty snazzy. (previously all black with modified taurus sho centres.) can anyone spot what my old new cool rims are from? (the junkyard obviously, but from what car?)

Is that a factory flareside bed? Never seen one like that before. Nice Chevelle!

I do like a good square-fins-with-curved-end-light rear end.

Sort of, came from various factories, two ranger splashes, two neons, an aztek, and some leftover toyota that hadn’t fallen off yet. Chevelle starts when you turn the keys, not a project, a fairweather daily.

you win the prize! They’re coming off once I paint my steelies and get some moons. stepsides need moons.

What all cars were used to make that bed. Because it’s cool.

2 ranger splashes, 2 neons, 1 aztek, some dakota and miscellaneous bits, an rv/trailering diode kit to eliminate amber blinkers, and a shit-ton of fibrglass.

Love it, in any case. Glad to hear the Chevelle’s in regular use!

not in snow and slush, but 15,000 miles worth, 3 carbs, one accident, one little fire, and endless smiles. No point in having a car you can’t drive. It gets some special consideration, but in general it’s a regular-ass car you can take anywhere. even has extra doors for the kids.

I want to get one one of these days. Of course, the part where the engine, trans, and rear axle are all tied rigidly together as one suspension super-member is completely bonkers.

did not know that. the one I had my hands in was a custom with 327 rambler mill replaced with the considerably smaller 327 sbc.

I’m guessing they installed Chevy axle arms or something to keep the rear axle in place. As you can see, the trans and rear axle stock have a torque tube that ties them rigidly together - it’s not even a trans-pivot style one.

when I was done with that car it was fireapple red with an ivory roof, 3 tone vinyl seats, shaved rear handles and exhaust piped through the former reverse lights in the bumper. this is what it looks like now (hubcaps not mine, i put baby moons on white steelies on it) don’t know where it is, but google images does.

It breaks my heart that a car that was never out of service in it’s life got parked on some hoarder’s farm with many other shiny classics and left to rot. Built it for driving around in style. was way more reliable than the chevelle, with more than double the miles. I hope some kid has it now and is enjoying the sound of a glasspacked straight six.

I have high hopes of being able to DD my ‘59 Lincoln. Shouldn’t be too unreliable, and the hyucks of a 20ft shiny green boat on the road are not to be denied.

got to drive it for the summer following the paintjob, daily drive it through a couple winters before. best starter with the hottest heat. was too nice to be a winter beater. Got lots of thumbs and smiles. Sold when I became a dad, had 4 ashtrays and no seatbelts, comfortably seated 8 Canadians, with room for four in the trunk.

That looks pretty good, how are the floors? and did you get that 477 MEL motor? that’d be a hoot.
RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht

I’ve just got the 430 MEL that came in it, so far. Stuck, but shouldn’t be irretrievable. Some holes in the floors, but the biggest problem is the front and rear torque boxes and the rockers. The rockers are a 5-piece layer cake of metal and basically just gone right below the sills. I can fold up the repair pieces here at work, though (box brake with a 10'+ jaw), so it shouldn’t slow me down too much.
I’ve found sources for seat fabric and a headliner, and I’ve got a source on the side windows, so once that, the structural rust, and the rust in the hood and front fender edge are dealt with, it’s down to pretty much just getting the mechanical parts going. Well, and I probably should get carpets.
